Queer joy: An LGBTQIA+ Wedding at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
There aren’t many places more magical for a summer wedding than the huge redwood trees of the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, and in July 2023, I had the absolute honour of photographing this beautiful wedding which fused Finnish and Scottish culture, all celebrating V & M’s beautiful promise to each other. As an LGBTQIA+ elopement and wedding photographer myself, documenting such authentic and emotional moments is the biggest privilege!
A Dream LGBTQIA+ Wedding Venue in Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Botanic Gardens are a great choice for adventurous, nature loving couples seeking an inclusive, accessible setting for their wedding day. With sweeping views, historic glasshouses, and endless floral displays, it’s one of the most iconic wedding venues in Edinburgh. It’s location, although close to the city centre, feels gorgeously secluded in nature, as you’re surrounded by greenery and colour.
For this beautiful July wedding, the Gardens were at their summer best — vibrant greens, bursts of wildflower colour, and golden sunlight filtering through ancient trees.

Family and friends gathered from around the world to celebrate the couple’s union, bringing a true sense of pride, love, and community to the day.
