Adventure elopement at Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels wild, intimate, and deeply romantic, an adventure elopement at Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland might be exactly what you’re looking for. Perched dramatically on the edge of rugged cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this iconic ruin offers a breathtaking backdrop for couples who want to escape tradition and embrace something unforgettable.
Maureen and Patrick chose to travel to Ireland to tie the knot after visiting a few years earlier. They already had incredible memories here, had met some amazing people, and wanted to share that with their closest friends and family.
They chose to stay at Stay Lagom in Ballycastle, a gorgeous space to host your loved ones without having to spread out. They have gorgeous open living spaces, multiple bedrooms, plenty parking as well as separate accommodation on site. It was the perfect base for their North Coast elopement, being only a 20 minute drive to Dunluce Castle.
Why Choose Dunluce Castle for Your Elopement?
Dunluce Castle is one of the most atmospheric and photogenic locations on the Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland. With its crumbling stone walls, sweeping coastal views, and windswept surroundings, it creates a sense of timeless romance that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
Eloping here means you’re not just choosing a venue—you’re choosing an experience. The sound of crashing waves below, the salty sea air, and the ever-changing skies all come together to create a truly cinematic setting for your special day.
The team at Dunluce are also so wonderful – they are so helpful and take care of absolutely anything you need. On arrival, the guests and Patrick were ferried down to the field in the trailer of a tractor (sounds shabby, but it’s actually a very fun mode of transport!). When Maureen arrived with her dad, they were brought down in one of the 4×4 trucks. Nothing is too much hassle, and we all felt so looked after!
The Magic of an Adventure Elopement
Adventure elopements are all about doing things your way. Instead of following a rigid schedule or hosting a large event, you can focus entirely on your connection as a couple. Whether that means hiking along the cliffs at sunrise, exchanging vows with just a handful of loved ones, or celebrating with a picnic overlooking the sea, the day is entirely yours to design.
At Dunluce Castle, every moment feels intentional and meaningful. The natural beauty of the location allows you to strip everything back and focus on what really matters. Maureen and Patrick chose to bring their parents and best friends with them for their elopement. It was intimate, meaningful and they all embraced the wild Irish weather so bravely!
